As many of you know, we got married on 02/02/08 and had our church wedding and reception in Pittsburgh, USA. We went back to Malaysia for the Chinese jip san leong, tea ceremony and banquet in July. Our theme for the jip san leong and tea ceremony was 'traditional chinese' and it was fun to see everybody in chinese or chinese inspired attire! The jip san leong ceremony is when the groom, together with his heng tais (brothers/guy friends) goes to the brides residence to officially invite her out from her home and to make her his bride. It is not such an easy task because they would have to go through a series of games and challenges conducted by the brides chi muis (sisters/girl friends). It usually involves a lot of eating of various things, performing outlandish tasks as well as buying his way through by giving out angpows (money in red envelopes). I bet Kevin had loads of 'fun' with all the task given to him that day. Thank goodness for all the help he got from his hengtais. Thanks guys, you guys totally rock!
A lot of people have been asking us to post up pictures from the Malaysian Wedding but we just never got around to doing it. I guess we were just too lazy to sort out all the photos and to upload it. After four months and endless questions of "Why isn't your wedding photos up online yet?", we managed to put some up on Facebook. Before you go over to the photo album, we also managed to upload a short video clip with some of the highlights from the Jip San Leong ceremony. Enjoy! (remember to turn off the blog background music to enjoy the music and sounds from the video fully)
Remember to visit our Facebook photo album for more photos of the jip san leong ceremony! Click here to be directed to the album.
Congratulations! Thats so sweet of him to do the Chinese stuff with you back in Malaysia. I've been dating an Englishman in Australia for almost 2 years now.
