Meeting up with old friends

We headed to the city today to meet up with some of my old friends from Malaysia. I knew them from way back when I was still in INTI College Subang. We were all part of the INTI Christian Fellowship. I was pretty excited to meet up with them. It's been almost 10 years since I last saw them.

Audrey has been living here in NYC for the longest time, it's just that I have not gotten around to meeting up with her earlier. We tried to get together a few times before, but it never really materialize. She's going to be a mummy real soon and we are so excited for her! Yes, I promise I will swing by to the Upper East Side to visit you and your baby once you have delivered!! Of course the other motivating factor is to eat the yummy 'too kar chor' that your confinement lady will be making. Hahaha :P Eugene just relocated from Missouri to Jersey City a few weeks back. Really good to see him too after so long and it was also cool to meet his fiancee. Here is a picture of us when we were still in college. Sorry Audrey, I think you already left for the States when this picture was taken.
We decided to meet up in Central Park, near the reservoir. Central Park is exceptionally beautiful this time of the year. It was good to just chat and catch up on all the latest news while taking in the beauty of the fall colors.
What do Malaysians do when they meet up with other Malaysians? EAT! Of course we must eat. No matter where we are or what we are doing. We planned a special 'picnic' in Central Park. Not the usual fried chicken, finger sandwiches kind of picnic. Look at what Eugene is holding...

Yup, DURIANS!! Yummy fresh durians straight from Chinatown. Audrey had cravings for durians since a few weeks ago, so we figured it will be a good idea to have a durian picnic :D What better way to enjoy durians than eating it outdoors while enjoying the fall foliage. Here is a picture of the Malaysians & Singaporean (Eugene's fiancee) enjoying the durians. Kevin had some but preferred to be the photographer and Audrey's husband kept his distance away (he really doesn't like the smell).
I have never heard of anybody having a durian picnic in the middle of Central Park before. It goes to show that Malaysians will always be Malaysians, no matter where we are in the world! We had a great time hanging out and catching up. We should do this more often!! :D
