Chocolate Swan Cream Puffs

I was flipping channels the other day and came across some guy on The Food Network giving a demonstration on making Swan Cream Puffs. It looks easy enough so I decided to give it a try. The method of making the shell is the same as making the shells for cream puffs. Since I have already shown a step by step guide to making that a while ago, just follow this link to learn how to make the dough for the cream puff shells.

Once you have mixed everything together, set it aside. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.

Fill your piping bag or Ziploc bag with the dough. Pipe out circles (just like how you make a regular cream puff shell) for the body of the swan as well as the head and neck of the swan. Pop it in the oven at 425F for about 12 minutes.

After about 12 minutes, take out the tray from the oven and remove the swan heads so that it doesn't continue to cook and burn.

Now it's time to make the chocolate pudding. Just get any regular chocolate pudding that you can find in the supermarket. Add in milk into the chocolate powder as directed on the package.

Whisk it until it is smooth and place it in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to allow it to set.

Once the cream puff shells have cooled down, split them into half.

Split the top half of the shell again to equal halves.

Place two bottom halves of the cream puff shell on a plate.

Scoop on some chocolate pudding.

Top the chocolate pudding with whipped cream.

Sprinkle on some powdered sugar on the swan heads.

Do the same for the top halves of the cream puff shell.

Once you have done that, carefully stick in the neck of the swan into the chocolate pudding. Place the top half of the cream puff shell on the swan to make it look like wings. There you go! A pair of Chocolate Swan Cream Puffs!

It's really so easy to make. I think that it looks cute too, rite? I tried putting on some chocolate syrup on the plate to make it look like ripples in the water but I think it didn't really work out :P Oh well, with or without the ripples, I still think it's cute!! An easy dessert to make when you want to impress your guests into thinking that you have slaved for hours in the kitchen :D You can basically replace the chocolate pudding with ice cream or any other filling that you like. Try it!

  2. sounds great, i have a suggestion, if you buy a non dairy whipping cream, and make your own non-dairy whipped cream it will hold up a lot longer and it wont melt like the caned whipped cream will. :)
