Gone With The Wings

We were driving through Franklin Ave in Nutley the other day (on our way to Edible Arrangements) when we saw a small shop/restaurant with an interesting name. Their mascot was a funky looking chicken with sunglasses and plastered in bright red, it had the name "Gone With The Wings". Below the shop name was their tag phrase "Frankly my dear, we DO give a damn"! Being big fan of the movie "Gone with the Wind", we thought that it was an ingenious name! :D We made a mental note that we must try their wings one day.

There was a big storm going on the weekend before last and we really didn't feel like braving the storm just to go out for food. So, we decided that to call "Gone With The Wings" to order some food for dinner.

We expected to wait for a long time (cos it was really really pouring with rain outside) for our food to be delivered but we were pleasantly surprised that it arrived in about 40 minutes or so. A nice big box of food! The delivery guy was also very pleasant and nice.

We decided to try one of their dinner specials. They had all kinds of choices, like meatloaf, veal or chicken parmigiana, steak, BBQ and many more. We ordered the 1/2 Rack BBQ Ribs Meal ($14.99). The ribs came with a choice of potato (hash, homefries, french fries, baked), a salad (our choice of dressing), the soup of the day (we had a choice of Chicken Noodle or Shrimp Bisque for that day) and garlic bread. We chose the french fries, salad with Italian dressing and Chicken Noodle Soup. The fries wasn't the greatest and the garlic bread was a bit cold and soggy but the Chicken Noodle Soup was yummylicious! I bet the garlic bread would have tasted good too if we ate it fresh out from the oven.

Here are the ribs! It was so so good! Their BBQ sauce tasted great and the meat was just falling off the bones...two thumbs up!

Now, here is the main event!! We ordered the 20 pcs Buffalo Wings ($12.95). It came with free celery and 3 tubs of blue cheese. We could have it in their special home made Buffalo Wings Sauce (mild, medium, hot), Teriyaki sauce, Tex-Mex BBQ sauce or Sweet Honey Mustard. We ordered the Medium Buffalo Wings sauce. Since this is supposed to be a wings place, so we expected a lot from their wings. Guess what? They didn't disappoint! OMG! Their wings were sooooooooooooooooo good!! We used to think that Planet Wings had the best wings in this part of town but now, the title goes to "Gone With The Wings". Oh my, they really DO give a damn! So so so yummy! One little warning though, their wings are hotter than usual. We ordered the Medium but it tasted like a Hot! Remember to order one level down from what you are used to, there is really a kick of spiciness in those wings :P Overall, it was a good dinner. So, the next time you are in the mood for wings, you know where to go!!
