Come take the Barefoot Challenge!

*This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Making Change . All opinions are 100% mine.

I know many of us always talk abut how we would want change the world and help make a difference. In our busy lives, sometimes this remains merely talk and we do not put actions to our words. It's not that we don't care, it's just that we sometimes tend to put off doing things and like to procrastinate. Well, this is not the case for a 13 year old boy from Canada. Known as an underage overachiever, Bilaal Rajan proves that age is no barrier when it comes to making a difference and the effort he pours into this initiative certainly puts many of us grown ups to shame.

Who is Bilaal Rajan, you might ask? Well, some of you might know him from an initiative he started last year where he will live life without shoes. I'm sure all of you know the saying, “You never really know someone until you walk a mile in their shoes”. Well, Bilaal took it step further: he went barefoot! He is asked fellow students, teachers and everyone else to do the same, in order to better understand the struggles faced by poor children in the developing world. Did you know that many of them can't afford shoes, let alone attend school or even know where their next meal is coming from.

To commemorate International Children's Day, Bilaal is leading his 2nd annual initiative by going barefoot on June 1st 2010 and he is urging people of all ages to start kicking off their shoes and going barefoot in support of his latest campaign for making change. Whether you are at work or at school, go barefoot! Even better, you can get friends, family or neighbours to sponsor you and that money you have collected can be given to your favourite children's charity. He is especially asking students to speak with their teachers and principals to see if their classes or entire school can kick off their shoes and participate as well.

Also, Bilaal's Making Change Barefoot Initiative is expected to be one of the largest celebrations of in North America. Last year the idea gained momentum across Canada and with people in countries as far away as Australia, Afghanistan, England, Switzerland, Thailand, Kenya, Malawi and Tanzania. How awesome is that! Come join Bilaal and the rest in making change now. You can go to Bilaal's website at http://www.makingchangenow.com/ or http://www.bilaalrajan.com/ to learn more about the initiative and sign up on Facebook too. Come June 1st 2010, I will be kicking off my shoes and take the Barefoot Challenge. Will you take the challenge with me?
