NMEDA makes life a whole lot easier

* This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Living with disabilities can be tough. Things like heading outside to collect the newspaper or going out grocery shopping might seem simple to a regular able bodied person but for a person with disabilities, it can really be a daunting task. Not only is it tough for the person with disabilities but it can sometimes take a toll on their caregiver as well. Thankfully, in this modern day and age, there are many types of wheelchairs/wheelchair vehicles and other aids that helps make the life of a person with disabilities a little easier. However, there are just so many out there. How do you know which is the right one for you? Buying something that doesn't really fit can sometimes cause more pain and harm than good.

Have you heard of NMEDA? Well, NMEDA (national Mobility Equipment Dealers Association) is a non-profit trade association that advocates providing safe, reliable vehicles and modifications to enhance accessibility for all people. They also educate consumers on buying products from a NMEDA qualified dealer. Why buy from a NMEDA qualified dealer, you might ask. Well, one of the biggest advantage you get when you buy from a NMEDA qualified dealer is that they conduct on-site evaluations to custom fit vehicles to your specific needs. You see, no two person are made the same right? So, why would your wheelchair vehicle be the same as the next guy? That is why you should beware of adapted wheelchair vehicles sold on the Internet or catalogs. When you buy from NMEDA qualified dealers, you will get a personalized “in-person” evaluation. With that, you can be sure you are getting the right driving solution customized to your specific lifestyle and needs. Not only that, but your NMEDA dealer is there to help if you need any additional training or product refinements.

Apart from having just dealers, NMEDA also has Quality Assurance Program (QAP) dealers. The Quality Assurance Program (QAP) is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. It is based on the principle that in order to satisfy customers consistently, companies must have a systematic and documented approach to quality. This means that in order to be a QAP dealer, your company not only have high quality and safe equipment but you must also meet the satisfaction of your customers.

So, with the help NMEDA dealers, the elderly or disabled get back onto the road of independence. I went to the NMEDA homepage and entered my zip code to see if there are any qualified dealers near me. To my surprise, there were quite a few! Of course I do not need a wheelchair vehicle now (and pray that I won't need one in the near future), but it's good to know that NMEDA is there if I should ever need their help. You should head over to their website and do the same!
