Do you know that a 24 oz. can of Similac Advance is selling for $27 at a local pharmacy in New York City and you can get a store brand version for less than $16? I have always been told that we get what we pay for. Well, looks like it's not the case here. Parents who pay good money for branded formulas thinks that a name brand formula must be safer or offer their child a higher nutritional value than a generic version. That is so not true. According to the Infant Formula Act of 1980, all baby formula sold in this country must meet minimum nutrient requirements and FDA regulations. This makes all baby formulas pretty much the same. From what I see, the only reason why branded formulas are way more expensive is because they spend a whole lot more on marketing and advertising! If this is the case, then shouldn't we all switch to generic formula instead? Well, if I had a baby, I would!
