6. Mineo's Pizza House

Ask anyone from Pittsburgh where you can get the best pizza in town and they will say Mineo's! Opened in 1958 by Giovanni 'John' Mineo, Mineo's has become synonymous to pizza in the city of Pittsburgh. It's located in Squirrel Hill, in the East Side of Pittsburgh. There is another branch in Mt Lebanon. The two restaurants are now run by John's sons and they still make the pizza pies exactly like their father did way back then.

Mineo's offers three kinds of pizza, the regular crust pizza, the white pizza and the Sicilian pizza. The most popular pizza would be their regular pepperoni and sausage pizzas. It's just loaded with cheese and meat. The sauce is sweet, with a little hint of tangy taste. The sausage is exceptionally good because it's home made. The Sicilian has a fluffy crust, about an inch and a half thick. It also has less sauce compared to the regular pizza. My personal favorite is the white pizza. Unlike the traditional white pizzas from other shops, the Mineo's white pizza doesn't have ricotta cheese. It has a similar crust as the regular pizza but with loads of olive oil, provolone cheese and tomatoes. It's the best white pizza I have ever tasted!

A lot of people come in to buy their half baked pizzas. All you need to do is to just pop it in the oven for about 15 mins back home and you will have the same fresh tasting Mineo's pizza in the comforts of your own home.

For those of you who are not from Pittsburgh but loves the pizzas from Mineo's, they can FedEx their frozen pizzas to you overnight! Just give them a call and the pizza will be at your doorstep the next day!! Do not forget to visit Mineo's the next time you are in Pittsburgh. If you are too lazy to go out of your hotel room, they deliver too!!
