Easy Classic Lasagna

We are back from Pittsburgh! Had a great time catching up with family and friends. We have tons of photos to sort out and go through. We will post them up once it's done. While waiting for that, let me share with you an easy step by step guide to making the ever so yummy Classic Lasagna. This is actually for Ashley. She mentioned a while back that she wanted to experiment with cooking during her school holidays and I figured this is an easy one to start with. Well, here it is!

You would need a box of instant lasagna, pasta/marinara sauce, 1 lbs ground beef, chopped spinach, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, an egg, some herbs (parsley, oregano, basil), black pepper and some cooking spray.

Brown 1lbs of ground beef. You can also use Italian sausage, chicken or turkey if you like. Drain it and set aside.

In a pan, pour in the pasta sauce. Add in the ground beef and chopped spinach. Also sprinkle in the herb seasoning and pepper. Continue cooking until it goes into a boil. Turn off heat and allow it to cool.

While the pasta sauce is cooking, beat an egg in a bowl. Stir in the ricotta cheese and some mozzarella cheese. Once it's mixed, set it aside.

Spray baking pan with non stick cooking spray. Spread some pasta sauce evenly at the bottom of the pan.

Layer it with 1/3 of the ricotta mixture.

Arrange the lasagna sheets on top that. Continue adding a layer of sauce followed by the ricotta mixture and then lasagna sheets until almost the top of the baking pan. Make sure the last layer you put on is the pasta sauce. To prevent if from boiling over, do not layer until the very top.

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese right at the top.

Cover the baking pan with aluminium foil and put it in a 375F preheated oven. Let it bake covered for 50 - 60 mins. Uncover and continue cooking until the cheese melts. Remember to let it stand for about 15 mins before cutting.

There you go! Quick and easy home made classic lasagna :D You should try making it, its yummy!!
