Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats

We were in the mood for something to munch on earlier today and decided to make some super yummy rice krispies treats. It's an all time American favorite, usually home made ( of course you can now buy them ready made too) and served during the holidays. We added a little twist to the original recipe by adding in some semi sweet chocolate chips :D Here is a step by step guide to making Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats.

Here are the ingredients that you would need. Rice Krispies (doesn't have to be Kelloggs, it can be any brand), Marshmallows, Chocolate Chips, Butter and some Wax Paper.

Firstly, melt 1/4 cups of butter in a large saucepan over low heat.

Once it's all melted, add in one 10.5 oz bag (approx 6 cups) of marshmallows. I used small marshmallows but the big ones works just fine too.

Stir continuously on low heat until the marshmallows are completely melted. Make sure you do not burn the marshmallows by leaving it on the fire for too long.

Remove saucepan from heat and stir in 6 cups of rice krispies. Stir and mix until it is well coated.

Add in half a bag of chocolate chips. I used the semi sweet chocolate chips because they are not as sweet as the regular. Mix it well. At this point, you can pretty much add in anything you want. Some people like to add in nuts, dried fruits or raisins, it's totally up to you!

I have lined a baking pan with wax paper. This is to make it easier to remove the treats to cut into bars after it has cooled down.

With a buttered spatula, press mixture into the pan. Allow it to cool and harden.

Once it has cooled down, remove from the baking pan by just lifting up the sides of the wax paper. It should just come out without any problems. Put it on a cutting board and cut into squares or bars (whichever that you fancy).

Here we have it. Chocolate Rice Krispies Treat Bars! It's really yummy, gooey but crunchy at the same time. A perfect snack for all ages! :D
