Planet Wings - Newark, NJ

We felt like having wings and fries for dinner on Friday night. Since it was Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, we didn't want to go out to eat and miss part of the game. So, we decided to order in some wings. We picked up this coupons by the mailbox downstairs a few days ago and thought that we will try it out.

Looks like Planet Wings in downtown Newark is under new ownership and it now delivers. The menu looked pretty good though. Of course there are wings but they also have stuff like burgers, wraps, sandwiches, chicken fingers, seafood, tacos, burritos and salads.

We decided to each get a Meal #1 ($7.99), which is 10 wings, curly fries and a medium soda. Now the tough part...what kind of wings to get :P

There are 24 different flavors to choose from!! I decided to try the Gourmet Garlic and Kevin got the Smokey Mountain BBQ.

It took them about 40 minutes to get the order to us. Not too bad cos we are not exactly located downtown. It takes about 15-20 minutes (depending on traffic) just to get from Planet Wings to our apartment. We also ordered two small desserts to go along with our dinner. What I like about the wings from Planet Wings is that they come with free celery and blue cheese. Most other places would charge for that.

This is my Gourmet Garlic wings. I love the taste! It has a low amount of heat, just enough to pack in a little punch (might be a little too mild for some people but perfect for me). The size of the wings are a little bit on the small side but the taste makes up for it.

Kevin's Smokey Mountain BBQ is pretty good too. It was covered with thick BBQ sauce, full flavored with a hint of sweetness. I think he enjoyed his wings too.

We ordered one small serving of Apple Cobbler ($1.95) and Peach Cobbler ($1.95) for dessert. There are three types of dessert on the menu. Apple Cobbler, Peach Cobbler and Sweet Potato Pie. The cobblers were alright, not too bad at all. There wasn't anything special or outstanding about them, but they were alright. We will try the sweet potato pie the next time. Overall, I would say that even though the size of the wings are small, the taste is great! We will definitely order from Planet Wings again!
